Standardized Nursing Exams

The entrance exam for the College of Nursing is the Evolve Reach Nursing Admission Assessment Exam (HESI). The exam is a computer-based test consisting of four modules: Math Skills, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and General Knowledge.

It is recommended that you complete the HESI A2 test well before you plan to submit your nursing application. In the event you do not achieve the required score, time for remediation and retesting is available.

Information Details
Exam Dates:
  • Exam Dates are given throughout the year, with breaks given between semesters. Please check back periodically during the semester for additional testing times. 
Cost:
  • The current cost of the exam is $93.50. This fee includes the exam and the SIU proctoring fee.
Test Day Information:
  • There is a four hour time limit for the HESI A2

  • A clear photo ID is required to take the exam.

  • Testing Services is located on the 7th Floor of Morris Library. Maps and parking information.
Registration:
  • You can register for the exam by going this link: Register for your Exam
  • Payment is due at time of registration and fees will be collected online when you register. There are no refunds; you will be allowed one chance to reschedule your exam if you notify Testing Services by email 24 Hours in advance.
Disability Accommodations:
  • Students must provide a copy of their OAA accommodations to Testing Services at least a month in advance of their testing date so that proper arrangements can be made. It is the student's responsibility to give Testing Services this information before they come in to take their exams. You can send this electronically to testing@siu.edu.
